News from our Alumni: Memry Rasch

Memry Rasch graduated from the University of Florida with her Master of Arts in French and Francophone Studies with a concentration in French Linguistics in December of 2020. She currently teaches French I, French II, French III, and French IV at Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, Florida. She strives to be an innovator and advocate for the promotion of the French language in schools. Last March, she was able to secure funding for 21 students to participate in Le Grand Concours (the National French Contest) sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. This was the first time that Cypress Creek High School, as well as any high school in the county, was able to participate. Two French I students received an Honorable Mention and a French II student received a silver medal. This has led to an increase in enrollment in French courses this school year and there are now double the number of students who are eager to participate in the contest this upcoming spring. This October, she will give her first presentation at the Florida Foreign Language Association Conference in Daytona Beach on “The Application of Snapchat’s MyAI to Facilitate Spontaneous Discourse in the French Language Classroom”.
