Valérie Lecomte – (BA FFS 2023)

C’est Valérie 🙂 After graduating in May 2023, I felt lost and so I did what anyone who feels lost does: travel. I was traveling all over Colombia and then one day, I get a call from my sister saying there is an opening for a Pastry Chef position at Nobu.

Although having no formal training in the world of Patisserie, I had an obsession with baking ever since I was 12 making macarons, croissants, every type of cake and more! So, there I am in Atlanta working at the Nobu as a Pastry Chef and although learning a lot from the chefs there, Atlanta was not my city.

Searching for something new, I stumbled across this Tiktok about an English summer camp for women in a château. The best part: it is located in Béduer, a small city in the South of France with gorgeous views (do me a favor and just google search the town of Rocamadour). I immediately saw that they were sold out for 2024 and I said to myself “If I can’t be there, I’ll work there”. So, I emailed the camp director offering my services not only as someone who could give some French lessons but also as a pastry chef. After a couple of zoom calls, I got the job as a Counselor! I would be teaching French, jewelry making, painting, crepe making, and cyanotype (a very obscure early photography method) in a château for the summer EEEK!!

For now, I am an Administrative Assistant to said camp and have officially moved to Paris, specifically the 20eme arrondissement 🙂 If you are ever in Paris or want to reach out, my email is lecomtejvalerie@gmail.com. Bisous!
