Bio
Hélène Blondeau (Ph.D. Université de Montréal) is a Professor of French and Francophone Studies, and Linguistics at the University of Florida. Trained in linguistic anthropology, she specializes in sociolinguistic, and her research interests encompass language variation and change, language contact and bilingualism. Her work is informed by large sociolinguistic corpora of data of authentic spoken French. Hélène Blondeau has been involved in major collaborative research projects on French in North America funded by external sources such as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Hélène Blondeau is also the Director of the University of Florida France-Florida Research Institute, one of the Centers of Excellence supported by the French Embassy.
